Hair Extension Information

Before your appointment...
Getting hair extensions is so fun, and we are really excited to see your new style! There are a few things you can do to ensure you are prepared for your hair transformation, so please take a moment and read through the following prior to your appointment.
1. Please arrive with clean, dry hair, free of any products on the day of your appointment. We recommend using a clarifying shampoo, and a light conditioner. *DO NOT USE ANY OIL OR DEEP CONDITIONERS*
2. It is best to get your color refreshed BEFORE your extension application and have your extensions ordered to match your current color. Please do not get your color done after you have had your extension match or we cannot guarantee that they will match your hair.
3. You may be in the chair for a longer duration of time, depending on the method and amount of hair you are having installed. We do have a selection of snacks, as well as Roast n’ Toast coffee, Culligan water, and Aveda Hot Tea. You are also welcome to have any food or drink delivered to the salon.
4. We love to show off our work! With your permission, we would love to take a before and after photo of you! Ask about our referral program to learn more how you can earn free products with every friend you refer!
After your appointment...
Yay! You did it!! We are so excited for you, and hope you are loving your new style. Below are a few tips and tricks that will help as you navigate your new hair and also help maintain the duration of time you can use your extensions. If at any time you have additional questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out!
Maintenance for your extensions is easy! You should schedule a move up for tape in extensions every 6-8 weeks, and hand tied wefts every 10-12 weeks. Your hair can be reused several times before needing to be replaced, so please be sure to take good care of it and use heat protectants, moisturizing oils, and conditioning treatments. Your provider can recommend some great options for you at any time. Hair extensions can make you feel like a Disney Princess, so take care of your hair like a princess would! Use a silk pillowcase to help your hair from tangling and from stripping your natural oil (don’t have one, don’t worry! We sell them at Vogue!). Gently remove tangles with your fingers before brushing, and loosely braid & secure with a silk scrunchie.
For our tape in clients...
Protecting the tabs to ensure you are getting the most time out of your extensions is key. If your new hair looks like the photo on the right, this means you have tape in extensions and we ask that you please be sure to do the following:
1. MOST IMPORTANT – Avoid water for 48 hours after installation. This includes sweating, steam rooms, swimming, and washing.
2. When shampooing, scrub lightly with your fingers and never dig, rinsing thoroughly to remove all residue. Included in your initial installation, you will receive a travel size shampoo and conditioner for you to get started with. Just apply conditioner to the ends, and never on the tape portion. Avoid applying styling products directly on the tabs.
3. Always brush from the ends up vs the roots down. Use your hand to hold the base of your extension in place so it doesn’t twirl, and then hold your hair in a fist at your ear, brushing below your fist. By holding your hair, you take the pressure off from the tab, extending the duration of time between application and reducing damage to your natural hair. We recommend brushing twice a day to maintain the integrity of your hair.
4. You can absolutely air dry your hair, but be sure to ALWAYS dry the tape portion when they get wet. Blow dry the root area first, and ends last if you wish, using your fingers, not a brush. Wait until the hair is 70% dry before using a styling brush.
5. If you ever have any questions or concerns, you can reach out to us directly and we will get back with you within 24 hours (with the exception of our closed days). Please know we are always here to help, and want you to love your hair!

For our hand sewn clients...
If your extensions were installed like the photo to the left, this means you are wearing hand sewn extensions (and you look like a disney princess). In order to preserve the duration of your extensions and maintain the integrity of the hair, we ask you to be sure to do the following:
1. Wash with the provided shampoo and conditioner in your kit and feel free to use deep conditioners as you would on your own hair. When shampooing, lightly scrub, never dig, and rinse thoroughly to remove all residue.
2. Always brush from the ends up vs the roots down. Use your hand to hold the base of your extension in place to avoid putting pressure on the sewn in portion or hold your hair by your ear and brush below to avoid putting pressure on the base. We recommend brushing twice a day to maintain your hair.
3. You can air dry, blow dry, or do any combination of the two. Just keep in mind that even though your hair may have some natural texture, the extension hair is straight. Using your fingers to blow dry, wait until your hair is 70% dry before using a styling brush.
4. If you ever have any questions or concerns, you can reach out to us directly and we will get back with you within 24 hours (with the exception of our closed days). Please know we are always here to help and want you to love your hair!!
